i made a hockey vlog. i feel dirty.

i made this video last night, mainly for the anaheim ducks board and the hockeypunx forum. i know it’s cheesy, and i apologize.

the NHL trade deadline is the last day a team can make player trades for the season. here is my tribute.

Buy the new Saw Wheel record!

In January, my label Anti-Creative Records (with help from Covert Coercion Records) released it’s 5th album. It’s a 7″ on white vinyl by the alt.country/punk/folk/whatever band Saw Wheel. It is awesome and you should buy it immediately! Go to Anti-Creative’s catalog here.

is rush limbaugh dead yet?

rush-limbaugh-oxycontinA few days ago, Rush Limbaugh had a heart attack scare and was rushed to a hospital in  Hawaii (where he was vacationing) and thanks to what I can only imagine was some sort of socialist Obamacare, he’s doing fine.

However, Twitter was all, uh, atwitter with rumors of his death, as was Wikipedia and other similar sources that we all take very seriously.

In order to do my part and offer clarity to the confused, I set up the following website you may visit in the event that you ever have any questions as to the status of Limbaugh’s life:

http://www.IsRushLimbaughDeadYet.com

Thank you for your time. Hopefully Limbaugh’s people contact me.

HockeyPunx

I’ve been working on a new site lately, and I just launched it public moments ago. Not many people have had the chance to see it yet, so you should go look at it and be a first. Especially if you like hockey. And punk rock.

Introducing:

http://www.hockeypunx.com

If you’re curious as to whether or not this is one of the best combinations of two great things ever, the answer is yes, yes it is.

let’s makeout.

a few days ago i put up a silly craigslist “casual encounters” ad as a way to kill some time with a dumb laugh. i never expected anyone to reply to it, as i never anticipated anyone actually liking Motley Crue. here’s what i posted:

origad

and even though i wasn’t prepared for any responses, i sure did get a few. i know at least a handful of these are just spambots, but something in me says that many of them are legit. had i been better prepared, i would have dedicated some time to responding to some of these and creating even more ridiculous conversations. but perhaps that’s a project for some other time. for now, here are the type of people who enjoy Motley Crue, nachos, and making out:

The State DVD

i know most of you aren’t 25-year-olds like my ancient, wrinkly ass,  so this post might be lost on you. however, back in 1993 when i was just about 10, MTV started airing this sketch comdey show called The State. look, i don’t use the word “hero” very often, but the people that made The State are the greatest heroes in American history. The State didn’t last too long, but it was one of the best sketch comedy shows to ever air, up there with greats like Kids in the Hall. after its demise, the people from The State went on to make shows and films like Stella, Wet Hot American Summer, Reno 911, Role Models, Michael and Michael Have Issues, and more.

the reason i’m talking about this is because after years and years of struggles with MTV and assorted licensing issues and red tape, MTV finally did something right and released The State on DVD. the official release date is July 14th (I think), but if you were smart enough to preorder it through the official website, then it’s being shipped to you today (along with a free tshirt, hey!). in honor of it being shipped, here’s a short, stupid clip from the show that anyone who remembers the series should remember and love.

Veoh Direct Link - $240 Worth of Pudding

if you’re one of the sad fucks that has never been exposed to The State (other than the video i just posted, of course), then do your self a favor and buy this immediately. if you are one of the lucky, old motherfuckers who remembers The State, i’m sure you have already done so, so i won’t nag you, you smart bastard.

other than the preorder link in the 2nd paragraph of this post, you can also buy the DVD from Amazon.

and remember, every time you buy a copy of the DVD, i make roughly two hundred billion dollars. so, thanks for that.

The State, of course, makes me happy.

the rebel-alliance network

a few months back i bought the domain name rebel-alliance.net off ebay. considering domain names typically go for about $10, i paid a lot more and therefore a stupid amount for this domain name.

why would i do this? am i some sort of closet star wars jerk? no. it’s something perhaps even geekier. years back when i was 18 or 19 years old, i was obsessed with an E/N site that housed itself at the same domain name (an E/N site is what we used to call blogs before the term blogs was coined. except they were generally much more entertaining than blogs, because they weren’t just shitty musings on some jackass’s day-to-day affairs. they actually had content).  it’s years later now, but you can still see the influence of that site on my shitty blog here (i have shamelessly, yet admittedly stolen a handful of concepts from that old site). if you care, you can take a trip to days past and see what was so appealing to me by visiting the Wayback Machine’s archive of the site that captured my young mind here.

anyway, i’ve had the domain pointing to this page here since i’ve bought it, which is just a page indicating that the site is under new management, while mimicking the original site’s design and begging people to do the work for me and come up with a decent idea of what to do with the domain (it also links to the old owner’s new blog, which is almost as funny as the old rebel-alliance network). now i’ve pointed the domain name to this particular blog post that you currently have your stupid eyes on since i still have no clue what i’ll be doing with the domain.

but hey, comments are open, have at it.
